To meet human needs without discrimination. This has been the focus from the start.
The Salvation Army has pursued this mission since 1865, both around the globe and here, closer to home.
The Salvation Army has pursued this mission since 1865, both around the globe and closer to home. And The Duchossois Family Foundation has helped the Salvation Army help Chicagoans for over twenty years.
Every day, The Salvation Army North & Central Division serves hundreds of thousands of our neighbors in need, working to combat homelessness, hunger, addiction, and disasters, while supporting children’s programs, job placement, and veterans.
The fight to end poverty stands at the core of it all. As a faith-based social services provider, The Salvation Army North & Central Division is uniquely suited to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual elements of poverty in individuals and families.
The North & Central Division provides services through 28 Corps Community Centers, as well as family homeless shelters, a senior residence, childcare centers, an emergency disaster services center, a federally funded halfway house, a substance-use-disorder treatment center, a women’s restorative justice program, an emergency homeless assessment and response center, and a camp and conference center. Through these facilities, The Salvation Army North & Central Division feeds empty stomachs and hungry souls. They rebuild broken homes and broken lives. They offer hope to the hopeless and second chances to all.

Looking Ahead...
Looking Ahead…

There’s the renovation of Booth Manor and the proposed teardown, redesign, and rebuild of Evangeline Booth Lodge, allowing for upgraded services and improved poverty prevention. Work is being done to purchase existing buildings, such as the Wentworth School in Englewood, in order to expand community centers in areas of need. And one of the most exciting goals is their vision to enhance programs for our veterans, to help them overcome the obstacles they face.
TDFF is honored to build on this twodecade partnership — working with The Salvation Army to make these profound and vital goals a reality.
