American Red Cross

Post Content

The American Red Cross is where people mobilize in the event of emergencies to help our neighbors — down the street, across the country, and around the world.

Our Mission

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. They work toward this mission through five lines of service: Disaster Relief, Blood Services, Service to the Armed Forces, International Services, and Training Services.

From small house fires to multi-state natural disasters, the American Red Cross goes wherever there is need, so people can have clean water, safe shelter, and hot meals when they require them most. All year round, Red Cross volunteers provide fire safety education and install free home smoke alarms. Since 2014, a documented 1,393 lives have been saved from this program. Additionally, the Red Cross is the largest supplier of blood products in the country.

The Red Cross provides 24/7 global emergency communication services to the U.S. military and provides support to veteran health care facilities across the country and around the world. What’s more, lifesaving skills are taught through CPR and First Aid training programs, in order to give individuals the confidence to act in the event of an emergency.
